The Corvette is currently in its eighth generation, but its predecessors are still going strong and are highly sought after. The C6 Corvette, produced from 2005 to 2013, was heavily updated from the previous C5 and remains a favorite among modern Corvette enthusiasts today, and for good reason. Appearance-wise, the C6 Corvette got new exposed, flushed headlights (goodbye pop-up lights) and a more angular, sharper body. It also was treated to upgraded suspension and handling along with a larger engine; the LS engine remained but was punched out to 6.0 liters. All in all, the C6 Corvette needs no introduction and certainly doesn’t need much when it comes to aesthetics. However, a new set of wheels can really accentuate the American icon’s natural DNA and make it stand out in a sea of ‘Vettes at your next show, cruise, or track day.
Our customer (IG: @thatcarbonvette) is the owner of a 2005 Corvette C6 with the Z51 package. The Z51 package includes a stiffer suspension, improved cooling, tires with better dry-road grip, bigger brakes, and a six-speed manual with shorter ratios. Think of the Z51 as a sport package that preps the car for hard driving and track use. This customer was looking for a set of wheels that would really provide a more distinct and aggressive aesthetic with OE-like handling and performance. With VR Forged, this C6 is ready for the track with wheels that not only look the part, but play it as well. We hooked this 2005 C6 up with a set of our VR Forged D05 monoblock forged wheels in a 19-inch staggered fitment. The wheels measure 19×9.5 at the front with a +30 offset and 19×10.5 at the rear with a +34 offset. The owner of this C6 installed a set of Anderson Composites carbon fiber fenders to help clear the wider stance in the front and the rear. The end result is just glorious.
The VR Forged D05 features a durable one-piece construction that was made using a 10,000-ton press for unmatched levels of strength. The D05 has an elegant design with sharp styling cues and intricate machine work for that race-inspired look. The split-spoke design towards the barrel keeps the eyes fixated on the precision CNC machining. It gives off that spider-like aesthetic that exudes a bold and intimidating energy well suited to the C6 Corvette. These D05 forged wheels are finished in a stunning Hyper Black color, which is somewhat of a darker chrome with a unique luster. It provides a beautiful contrast to the clean factory black paint on this C6 and looks good no matter the lighting.
