At one point, Mercedes-Benz’s AMG GT lineup was becoming a bit messy what with all of the variants available. There was the GT, GT- S, GT-C, GT-R, GT-R Pro, and GT Black Series – all of which came in coupe and roadster form. The German marque, therefore, decided it would behoove them to tidy up the range beginning with the lower end, particularly the old GT and GT-S. Both were scrapped in their hard and soft-topped forms to be replaced by a more powerful entry-level GT example. For the sake of this post though, we are going to take a look back at the stunning Mercedes AMG GT-S.

With perfect balance and impeccable power, the GT-S stands out in a sea of sports cars as being one of the most driver-friendly models ever produced. In other words, the GT-S is one of the most responsive street-legal vehicles on the road with unparalleled dynamics to make it a dream to drive. The design of the GT-S provides high levels of functionality and style together with perfectly balanced and functional aerodynamics to provide the best performance and ride quality. The stock ten-spoke wheels, however, could use a bit of work and seem underwhelming for a supercar such as the GT-S.

That being said, the Mercedes AMG GT-S featured below is wearing VR’s very own forged D05 wheels. This GT-S catches your eye immediately with its unique Petronas-inspired green wrap that complements its naturally sculpted body lines. It is sitting on a set of 20×9.5 (front) and 21×11.5 (rear) D05 monoblock wheels with a +50 / +55 offset, 66.6 center bore, and 5×112 bolt pattern. Tire recommendations for the front are 245/35/20 or 255/35/20 and 325/30/21 or 325/25/21 for the rear.

The Satin Bronze finish on these D05 wheels adds another level of charisma to the GT’s overall appearance as it provides a noteworthy contrast to the car’s wrap. The D05 has a race-inspired design with split spokes toward the barrel of the wheel that give it that “branched out” aesthetic and focuses on precision CNC machining. These wheels not only look amazing, but they are incredibly strong and lightweight thanks to the forging process which uses a 10,000-ton press.
